A Subtle Detail In She-Hulk Logo Hints At A Huge MCU Change

0

Marvel's She-Hulk tells the story of an alternate version of Hulk, and one subtle logo detail may hint at a significant Marvel Cinematic Universe change with the character. The MCU is adding a new Hulk in Phase 4 with Tatiana Maslany's She-Hulk. In Marvel's comics, the character is a lawyer and Bruce Banner's cousin, but she becomes another version of Hulk after a blood transfusion. However, She-Hulk/Jennifer Walters also retains her intelligence and personality. Sometimes she even goes the Deadpool route and breaks the fourth wall. Though Marvel is keeping the show's details under wraps, Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner also returns in the series, giving the show a chance to follow in Marvel's comic book footsteps.

She-Hulk merchandise has already surfaced online, showing the character's final look. Previous teaser footage has only given glimpses of She-Hulk; however, new drinkware shows off her full design. Like the character in the comics, Maslany's She-Hulk doesn't become a hulking monster like her cousin. Instead, she gets a greener version of her own looks. Additionally, the character receives multiple purple costumes, which fits She-Hulk/Jennifer Walter's comic book aesthetic.

Though the character resembles her comic book counterpart, Marvel seemingly included a significant change with the She-Hulk logo. During Disney+ Day in 2021, Marvel tweeted out a She-Hulk logo for the original series. Right away, fans noticed (via Twitter) that something was different about the series title. Rather than have the logo as "She-Hulk," Marvel makes it "She/Hulk." The MCU makes it appear like She and Hulk are the character's pronouns by adding a slash. If that's the case, it's a significant change for Jennifer Walters and She-Hulk.

By making the logo "She/Hulk," Marvel places Jennifer Walters on the same level as Bruce Banner. In Marvel's comics, Walters is She-Hulk, but the name has the potential to make it seem like she's different or lesser than Bruce Banner's version of Hulk. In going by She or Hulk, Marvel shows Maslany's new character is every bit as important as Bruce Banner's green monster. Hawkeye did the same thing. The series seemingly ends with Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) taking on the mantle of Marvel's arrow-slinging hero. By giving She-Hulk the pronouns She and Hulk, Marvel delivers a progressive take on the character, revealing the MCU will have a Hulk in Phase 4 for years to come.

Though the MCU will always have a Hulk in She-Hulk, it seems Bruce Banner's character is on the way out. By making She-Hulk the MCU's regular Hulk, Marvel signals that Mark Ruffalo's time as the green giant is coming to an end. Much like Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye passed his Avengers title to another character, Bruce Banner's Hulk is doing the same. Of course, with the MCU leaning into the Multiverse, no character is truly gone for good, so Bruce Banner could always return. However, the MCU strongly hints that it will still have a Hulk in the future. It just won't be Mark Ruffalo.
