Spider-Man: No Way Home Video Shows Off Tom Holland’s Acrobatic Skills
A behind-the-scenes video from Spider-Man: No Way Home has been released showing off some of Tom Holland’s amazing acrobatic skills. Superhero films have become a cornerstone of cinema today as the ultimate action blockbuster thanks to the resounding success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ever since Iron Man came out in 2008, there has been an MCU film released once, twice, or sometimes even three times a year. These high budget action films contain a cavalcade of major actors, such as Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, and Tom Holland, who put their own bodies on the line for some of the MCU's craziest stunts.
Tom Holland is one of the younger actors in the MCU, debuting as Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War when he was just 19 years old. Since then, he has starred in his own films as the web-slinger in Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, as well as ensemble films such as Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. The stunts that Tom Holland has had to perform in these films are on a much different level then the stunts some of his fellow Avengers have had to perform due to the acrobatic nature of Spider-Man as a hero.
This behind-the-scenes video of Tom Holland performing his own stunts in Spider-Man: No Way Home comes from Vanity Fair (via Phase Zero - MCU). The video shows the famous bridge scene in which Spider-Man is trying to save the Assistant Vice Chancellor of MIT from Doc Ock, but before any special effects had been added. In the video, Holland runs across the lot, dodging explosions that have yet to be added in, before ultimately jumping off a car onto a trampoline where he performs a full front flip into a roll before continuing to run. The amount of acrobatic skill that it takes for Holland to perform this stunt is absolutely staggering and now fans can witness it first hand. Watch the video, below:

The release of this footage can really re-contextualize the entirety of the Spider-Man franchise for viewers. When considering a favorite action scenes from the franchise, we can now think about how Tom Holland himself likely performed the stunt and what level of skill must have been required to do so. Holland does have a few doubles that perform the more extreme stunts in the films, but there is still a large amount of stunts he does himself. The willingness to train to be able to perform such spectacular stunts really shows the dedication Holland has for both the role of Spider-Man and acting as a whole.
Some of these incredible stunts may have even help Tom Holland carve out a space in Hollywood for himself as an action star. Holland was recently in the action blockbuster Uncharted, based on the video game of the same name, where he also did many of his own stunts. Even after admitting that a few of Uncharted's stunts left him with some bumps and bruises, Holland stated that he’s always “happy to take a pounding” if it ends up looking great on film. With over seven films under his belt in which he performs stunts, including Spider-Man: No Way Home, the young actor may very well be a burgeoning Hollywood action superstar.
