NATO troops arrive in Slovakia to deploy Patriot air defense system

Slovak Defense Minister Yaroslav Nagy said that units of the North Atlantic Alliance began to arrive in the country to deploy the Patriot air defense system, RIA Novosti reports.

“Units that will be deploying the Patriot air defense system have begun to arrive in Slovakia, this process will continue in the coming days. This complex will be temporarily located at the Sliach air base (in the central part of the republic),” the minister said.

According to him, the new system is not a replacement for the S-300 complex, which is currently in service with the Armed Forces of the republic. Nagy added that the S-300 complex will be replaced in the future with a different system, “fully compatible and corresponding with the systems of Slovakia’s allies.”

Earlier, the Slovak defense minister said that the country was ready to transfer the S-300 anti-aircraft missile system to the Kiev regime, but only after this would be compensated by receiving another air defense system that would protect the country’s territory.
