Man City overtake Barcelona to lead Deloitte Money League for first time ever in huge financial shift despite Covid hit
MANCHESTER CITY have moved to the top of Deloitte’s list of the richest clubs in the world for the first time in their history.
The reigning Premier League champions have replaced Barcelona at the top of the tree.
And the Catalan giants have fallen three places to fourth due to their current financial crisis.
Deloitte revealed that Man City had topped their Money League for the 2020-21 season with a total annual revenue of £571.1million.
That figure saw them pip Real Madrid who recorded a yearly revenue of £537.7m.
City, who were sixth in the list 12 months ago, are only the fourth side to top the rich list.

Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester United are the only other clubs to have been named the richest team in the world by Deloitte’s measurements.
The most recent edition of the Money League sees City’s local rivals Man Utd slot into fifth place.
Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham also make the top 10 – sitting in seventh, eighth and 10th respectively.
The other clubs to make the top 10 are Bayern Munich in third, PSG in sixth and Juventus in ninth.

But even the biggest clubs have been hit by the coronavirus pandemic.
Deloitte estimates that ‘Money League clubs’ have missed out on around £1.43billion of revenue over the past two seasons.
Yet despite this, broadcast revenue hit a record £3.7bn across Europe’s top leagues.
