Kumiki Trestles

0

Kumiki Trestles are minimal trestles designed by France-based studio PERRON et FRERES. The studio developed the trestles through the leftover pieces of wood from their workshop. Inspired by Japan’s refined art of wood joinery and traditional woodworking, the pieces are named after the Japanese word for interlocking wooden blocks: Kumiki. Each piece is reduced to the minimum, the angles needed to their stability guide the shape, and the detail assembly is visible. The studio is able to build different variations from several species of wood, and allow for combinations of wood as well. As no glue or screws are needed, the trestles can be assemble and dismantle with only a mallet.
