Washington will not send its troops to Ukraine – US envoy to the UN
The White House does not want an escalation in Ukraine, so it will not send its troops there to participate in hostilities, said US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield.
“President [US Joe Biden] has made it very clear that we will not deploy US troops in Ukraine. We do not want to escalate, bring this to a war. However, we will support NATO allies. we have military personnel in NATO countries, and the President [US] has clearly stated that if there is an attack on any of the NATO countries, then under Article 5 [Washington Collective Defense Treaty], we will support and protect these countries,” Thomas Greenfield said in an interview with CNN.
Earlier, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said that the US military would not be involved in the territory of Ukraine, as this threatens a full-scale conflict with Russia. At the same time, the United States continues to supply the Kyiv regime with various types of weapons.
Speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin stressed that Washington and the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance should stop sponsoring Ukraine with weapons and foreign mercenaries.
Recall that on February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the launch of a special military operation on the territory of Ukraine to protect people who “for eight years have been subjected to bullying, genocide by the Kiev regime.” The Ministry of Defense emphasized that Russia does not strike at the cities of Ukraine and focuses exclusively on the military structure of the country’s Armed Forces.
