Sandra Bullock & Channing Tatum's Kids Had Play Dates on Lost City Set

0

The Lost City stars Sandra Bullock, and Channing Tatum talk about how their kids got to spend time with them in the exotic locations of the new film. The Lost City comes out on March 25 and stars the A-listers alongside Daniel Radcliffe and Brad Pitt. Initial reviews for the film have been positive, with many complimenting the chemistry between Bullock and Tatum.

The Lost City follows romance author Loretta Sage (Bullock) kidnapped by an obsessed fan (Radcliffe) who believes a lost city written about in Sage's book is real and needs to be discovered. Sage's only hope is the dimwitted cover model of her books (Tatum), who goes off into the jungle to rescue her despite having no survival skills. The Lost City is an increasingly rare example of a big-budget romantic comedy that relies on star power rather than intellectual property to get audiences into theater seats.

In an interview with The New York Times, Bullock talks about how she and Tatum brought their kids to set with them, saying it was a big reason she wanted to make the movie. She elaborates by saying it was a way to have a COVID-safe vacation, allowing their kids to have fun away from worries of the virus. She also mentions how they brought motorbikes to the locations in the Dominican Republic to use on their days off from filming. Read Bullock's quote below:

That’s the reason we did this film, so they could have one long, Covid-safe play date. We even brought motorbikes down there. All we cared about is that Everly and Laila were just having the time of their lives.

Bullock has previously discussed the difficulties of getting The Lost City made, citing the film's new IP status and high budget requirements. Bullock's been attached to the project since late 2020, with the film being delayed due to COVID restrictions and requiring other big names for the leading roles. The film is projected to make around $20-30 million in its opening weekend, a healthy start to cover its $74 million budget and marketing costs.

Back in the early to mid-2000s, Bullock was the queen of the big-budget rom-com with Ms. CongenialityThe Lake House, and The Proposal cementing her career. Despite some impressive performances in Gravity and Bird Box, it's refreshing to see her returning to her roots in the type of movie that dominated the box office less than 15 years ago. With The Lost City looking to make good returns and receiving rave reviews from critics, it's also nice to know that Bullock's children spent some quality time with her in the process.
