How Tall Are Elites In Halo? | Screen Rant

0

The live-action Halo series is about to be released on Paramount+, featuring Master Chief Petty Officer John-117 defending humanity from the alien forces of the Covenant. This includes the imposing Elites who have a decent height advantage over the average human soldier enlisted by United Nations Space Command. Here's how tall Elites actually are and how they compare to John-117 in his SPARTAN armor.

As seen in the various Halo video games and novels, the Covenant is a collection of various alien species who've come together as one unified force, worshipping the ancient race known as the Forerunners who left behind powerful technologies such as the Halo rings. While the Covenant is comprised of eight different species, each with its own position on the social hierarchy, it began with the uneasy alliance between the San'Shyuum and Sangheili races. While the San'Shyuum lead the Covenant as Prophets, the Sangheili are commonly referred to as Elites by the UNSC, acting as military commanders in the Covenant's holy war to eradicate humanity, seeing mankind as a threat to their self-appointed claim to the Forerunners' technology.

The Covenant's smallest (and lowest) members known as Grunts and Jackals are around the same height as a UNSC soldier, with the smallest Grunt being around 4 feet 6.5 inches and the tallest Jackal being 6 feet 8 inches. However, the Elites are much larger, averaging between 7 feet 4 inches and 8 feet 6 inches. While Master Chief's Mjolnir armor makes him taller than Grunts and Jackals at 7 feet 2, Elites still have him beat. Furthermore, the first trailer for the live-action Halo series sees John-117 fighting two Elites who appear to be closer to 9-10 feet tall in comparison.

While there are larger members of the Covenant such as the Jiralhanae (also known as Brutes), trailers and promos for Halo have yet to feature the gorilla-like berserkers. It's possible that they may be saved for the already greenlit second season. At any rate, it appears as though the Elites will be Master Chief's largest threat. That being said, the worm-like Covenant species known as the Lekgolo can be seen in the trailer as well. While small, they can come together to form the giant 12-foot tall Hunters (though it remains to be seen if they'll do so in the series).

If the trailers and promos for Halo are any indication, Elites seem to be the primary Covenant species Master Chief will be fighting along with his fellow SPARTANS known as Silver Team. However, the Covenant is comprised of several formidable species who pose just as much of a threat to humanity as any other (regardless of their height). Thankfully, fans won't have to wait much longer to see Master Chief in action when Halo starts streaming.
