I’m a mom and I don’t let my kids speak to me until I’ve had my first cup of coffee – it’s for their own good

A BOLD mother has taken to the internet to share her unconventional parenting style – which includes not allowing her kids to speak to her until she’s had coffee.

She admitted she expected to “lose followers” and garner some hate, but most people had the opposite reaction.

The mother, Fawna Fitts, shared her unique parenting style in a stitch with a video that advised others to share their parenting rules that “not everybody agrees with.”

COOL WITH CURSING

First, she said she allows her kids to use curse words once they turn 13, “as long as you use it in the proper context and you do not disrespect adults.”

On the subject of respect, she said she teaches her kids to use manners.

“You will say: ‘ma’am’ and you will say: ‘sir,’ you will be respectful,” she stated.

COFFEE IS CRUCIAL

Next, Fitts said her kids do not speak to her until she’s had her morning cup o’ joe.

“When my kids were little, I would get their breakfast ready and everything in the morning – and yes, they would be taken care of, they would be f**king fine, happy and healthy – but none of them were allowed to bother me, talk to me, touch me, nothing, until after I had my first cup of coffee,” she explained.

“And yes, they followed that rule and yes, they’re fine.”

GROWING UP MEANS BEING RESPONSIBLE

Lastly, Fitts revealed she “required” her kids to get a job once they turned 16.

She added that they were also billed for rent, but she used it for their benefit.

“I will save it until at whatever point they decide that they wanna move out, I’ll return all the rent they paid to me over the months or over the years and they’ll have a nice nest egg to start,” she noted.

THE HATE STAYED AT BAY

Although Fitts bluntly stated she expected to get hate, she didn’t get much.

Perhaps the biggest criticism was aimed at charging her kids rent while still in high school, but the person who brought it up said they agree with the tactic if it started at a later age.

Otherwise, people were praising Fitts’ parenting tactics.

“I like the rent idea,” one supporter wrote.

“Makes them responsible with their [money].”

“This is awesome! Great parenting!

“You’re teaching them boundaries and responsibilities,” another exclaimed.

“No hate here doll, I think those are great rules!” a third user added.

And a fourth viewer even admitted she wishes her parents had enforced Fitts’ rent idea.

Similarly, another mother posted per potentially controversial tactic that she uses on her kids – but there’s also a method behind her actions.
