Prototype Cup Germany Confirms First Entries: Gebhardt Ginetta, WTM, Racing Experience & Muehlner Duqueines
The new-for-2022 Prototype Cup Germany, a combined organisational effort between ADAC and Creventic, has confirmed the first two entries for the coming season:
Gebhardt Motorsport will compete with a Ginetta G61-LT-P3.
The team, a direct descendant of the Group C era squad that campaigned cars, including their own build C1 efforts, with MOMO backing, will run the #70 for the season with Jacob Erlbacher their first named driver.
The German Series calendar has been composed to allow teams to compete alongside a Le Mans Cup effort and the first teams to confirm dual programmes are WTM and Muehlner Motorsport.
WTM, now operated with Rinaldi rather than Phoenix as was the case in their debut year in LMP3 in 2021.
The Rinaldi/ WTM partnership started with a competitive effort in the Asian Le Mans Series with their Duqueine D08, Leonard Weiss and Torsten Kratz taking third place in the final class standings – the same pairing will contest the German Series.
Leonard Weiss: “To have the opportunity to race another whole series in LMP3 alongside the Le Mans Cup is great. It’s a great chance to compete in a new series and gain the race kilometres to learn even more in the LMP3. It’s also a lot of fun to be racing with Torsten again this season, as we complemented each other very well last year and also get on very well off the track. I am looking forward to exciting battles during the season and of course I hope that we can be among the front runners and have a good result in the standings at the end of the season.”
Torsten Kratz: “I am very happy that there is now also a championship for the prototypes at national level. For us, it’s an ideal complement to the international programme.”
Mühlner Motorsport has also confirmed a full season entry with a Duqueine D08.
Team owner Bernard Mühlner: “I am very much looking forward to participating in the Prototype Cup Germany. We have been working with the people at ADAC as well as Creventic in a trusting relationship for decades. After we started with the prototypes in America in 2018 in the IMSA Prototype Challenge and then also participated in the Michelin Le Mans Cup in Europe since 2020, it’s great that we now also have a series for prototypes in Germany.”
And Racing Experience is bringing a Duqueine too.
“Racing Experience has decided to participate in the new ADAC Prototype Cup with Gary Hauser behind the wheel.” said team founder Christian Hauser. “We are looking into entering a second car, with the line-up still due to be confirmed. We aim to prove our level of competiveness and aim for podium positions”
