Capital One has its fingers in nearly every flavor of financial pie. It's got a proprietary travel portal; it offers an extremely helpful shopping portal; just weeks ago, it debuted an intuitive dining platform. All of these tools provide useful features that you won't find with its competitors.
On March 24, Capital One's finger will penetrate yet another lattice crust. The latest compote: Entertainment reservations.
Capital One Entertainment will help cardholders secure admission to sports, dining, music, and other events. You can even redeem rewards for free tickets and exclusive experiences.
Here's what you need to know.
Capital One Entertainment
Capital One's new platform is powered by Vivid Seats, a site through which you can book tickets to events like:
- Music concerts and festivals
- Broadway shows
- Major sports events
- Cirque Du Soleil
- Stand up comedy
Capital One Entertainment aims to improve this experience — you'll now be able to redeem your rewards for free admission to 500,000+ events.
Exclusively for
- NCAA Men's Final Four Weekend in New Orleans (April 1 - 4, 2022): Includes two suite seats, passes to Capital One JamFest, and Men's Final Four Fan Fest presented by Capital One.
- iHeartCountry Festival in Austin (May 7, 2022): Includes premium tickets and access to a sound check with headliner Thomas Rhett.
Capital One states that other exclusive experiences will continue to be added, "including events like the iHeartRadio Music Festival, Capital One Orange Bowl, the College Football National Championship, James Beard Foundation events, the MICHELIN Guide culinary events, and more."
How do rewards work through Capital One Entertainment?
Capital One awards two different currencies when using its rewards credit cards:
- Cash back
- Capital One miles
No matter which currency you're redeeming, you'll receive a flat rate through Capital One Entertainment. Redeeming $100 cash back will appropriately yield you $100 in value.
However, Capital One miles are worth only 0.8 cents each. For the same $100 off, you'd have to redeem 12,500 miles. This is not a good way to redeem your miles. You can receive a value of 1 cent per mile when using them to offset travel purchases. And you can get significantly more value than that when transferring to Capital One travel partners. Insider estimates Capital One miles to be worth 1.7 cents, on average, when redeemed this way.

The ability to redeem Capital One rewards through Capital One Entertainment is more than a convenience; for some travel packages, it's a necessity.
Some experiences listed on Capital One Entertainment can only be reserved with rewards (usually the more elaborate packages). Other packages can be bought with a mix of cash and rewards. Each package's terms will be clearly stated on the site.
Also, note that
Bottom line
Capital One again delivers a unique aspect to a tired idea. Capital One Entertainment reservations lets you book theater, concert, and sports tickets, among other events — but it also builds special itineraries for holders of select Capital One credit cards. Some packages are only available to book using Capital One rewards.
