Who is Alabama representative Mo Brooks?

Morris Jackson “Mo” Brooks Jr., 67, has been a House Representative for Alabama’s 5th Congressional District since 2010.

He was first elected to public office in 1982 as a member of the Alabama House of Representatives and was re-elected in 1983, 1986, and 1990.

In 1996, he ran for the Madison County Commission and won. He was re-elected to the Commission in 2000, 2004, and 2008.

Congressman Brooks has been re-elected to Congress four times.

He grew up in the Tennessee Valley.

His father was an electrical engineer and his mother taught economics and government for over 20 years at a high school in Huntsville.

Congressman Brooks “graduated from Duke University in three years with a double major in political science and economics, with highest honors in economics. In 1978, he graduated from the University of Alabama Law School,” according to the bio on his website.

How many children does Mo Brooks have?

Brooks has a total of four children: Rachel Brooks, Jay Brooks, Thomas Brooks, and Chelsie Brooks.

He shares his children with his wife, Martha.

The pair have been married since 1976 and met at Duke University.

Marth is a graduate of the University of Alabama and “later retired as a certified public accountant and obtained a math and education major from the University of Alabama in Huntsville in 2005. She taught math at Whitesburg Middle School,” according to Brooks’ official website.

He and his wife are the proud grandparents of ten grandchildren.

Is Mo Brooks running for US Senate?

On March 21, 2021, Brooks announced his campaign for Senate.

“Our republic’s election system, which is the underpinning of every republic, is under attack. In 2020, America suffered the worst voter fraud, and election theft, in history,” said the Alabama Republican.

“Mo Brooks is a fearless fighter who will not submit to the demands of socialist Democrats, weak-kneed RINOs, or to the fake news media.

“Please help me take America back to the foundational principles that have combined to make us the greatest nation in world history,” he said.

Brooks is fighting to fill the seat of the Republican senator, Richard Shelby, 86, of Alabama.

Shelby announced back on February 8, 2021, that he would not run for reelection in 2022, and would instead retire after serving 42 years in Congress.
