Sister Wives: What We Know About Maddie & Mykelti's College Educations

0

On Sister Wives, Maddie Brown Brush and Mykelti Brown Padron are half-sisters who have both had choice careers in mind, but their college education journeys have had some twists and turns. Out of the 18 Brown children, many of the older ones are getting ready to tackle the real world, and they are carving out their paths to prepare for what's next. For some, this includes higher education. Kody and Janelle Brown's daughter Maddie, 26, and Mykelti, 25, who is Kody and Christine's daughter, have things in common. They are both married, they are the only Brown children with kids of their own, and they have both been to college.

Seeking a higher education is nothing new in the Brown family. Christine's daughter Aspyn Brown graduated from UNLV in 2019 with a degree in education. Her daughter Ysabel is currently attending East Carolina University. Meri's daughter Mariah graduated from Westminster College in 2013 and received her master's in social work from Loyola University in Chicago in 2020. Three of Janelle's sons have sought higher education, including Hunter Brown, an Air Force Academy grad, who recently received his master's in nursing at the prestigious Johns Hopkins University. Sister Wives sisters Maddie and Mykelti also began with the intention of obtaining college educations and then pursuing careers.

Maddie enrolled in Utah State University and attended during the 2015-2016 academic year. However, she dropped out in favor of a domestic life with Caleb Brush, who is Kody's brother-in-law. He proposed to her in September 2015 and she married him six months later. In January 2017, they welcomed their first child, Axel James. Some fans wonder why Maddie didn't continue her college education while married, or delay marriage in favor of academia. She was the valedictorian of her high school and she was offered a full scholarship.

Reddit user drink_in_wonderland said, "All the parents are super excited for her, but no one mentions the impact of her quitting school when she had a pretty big amount of financial aid?" Sister Wives fans will be happy to know that, according to the mom of two, she's adjusting to motherhood, a part-time job, and college. It seems like Janelle's go-getter daughter Maddie, whose Instagram label says "Life Long learner," is hitting the books again. With a previous interest in law, Maddie has remained quiet about her current academic pursuits.

Although Mykelti's college education doesn't mirror Maddie's, it does have some similarities. Christine's ambitious daughter has always had her eyes set on fashion, and in 2015, she landed an internship in fashion at UNLV. Encouraged by Aspyn's experience at UNLV, she moved in with her sister on campus, and looked forward to becoming a designer. Fashion runs in the family, as some of the Sister Wives work for the multilevel marketing company LuLaRoe, which sells women's clothing. In a similar fashion to Maddie, Mykelti got engaged in June 2016, to Tony Padron. Again mimicking Maddie's actions, Mykelti dropped out of college in favor of romance. Tony and Mykelti married that December and welcomed baby Avalon April 5, 2021.

Mykelti's college internship in fashion served as the springboard for the launch of her own company, Mykelti’s Whimsical Boutique, which is affiliated with LuLaRoe. All signs point to her living her best life as a business owner, mother, and wife. It remains to be seen whether the Sister Wives star will go back to college. Meanwhile, she and Tony are living in Utah, and Mykelti can often be found parading her lovely wares on her Instagram account. If she does choose to resume her college education, who knows what opportunities might lie ahead?
