No Way Home Trailer With The Batman Nirvana Song Makes Spider-Man Darker
The Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer gets a Batman twist as Nirvana's "Something In The Way" is added to Peter Parker's latest adventure. The two biggest movies of the past four months belong to cinema's reigning superhero franchises. The Batman has become 2022's first box office hit after grossing an impressive $306 million domestically after just three weeks in theaters, though it only notched the second-biggest opening weekend of the pandemic. The overall biggest goes to Spider-Man: No Way Home, which broke more than pandemic records when it opened to $260 million in December. Its current total stands at $797.7 million.
Spider-Man: No Way Home is the MCU's third solo movie centered on Tom Holland's Peter Parker. Picking up directly after 2019's Spider-Man: Far From Home, the film begins with the aftermath of Peter's secret life as the web-slinger being revealed to the world. To fix the problem, he turns to Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) for a spell that can make everyone forget he's Spider-Man. No Way Home takes a drastic turn when the spell goes wrong and the multiverse is split open, leading to the arrival of prominent figures from pre-MCU Spider-Man franchises.
Spider-Man: No Way Home has been more than a box office success, as it has also won over fans and critics with its emotional take on the beloved hero. Even now, it's still inspiring new fan works, like this clever trailer edit from yaboybelize that combines No Way Home with The Batman. The video takes a much slower, dramatic approach to Peter's multiversal adventure, and it's aided by the incredible backing of Nirvana's "Something In The Way". Check it out below.

The Batman made use of the Nirvana track in both trailers and the movie itself, and that has led to increased streams for the song on various platforms. The decision to pair these two movies together for the above trailer edit is a fun one, particularly since they have very little in common. Spider-Man: No Way Home is bursting with connections to all the movies that came before it, while The Batman stands on its own, unattached to any other DC film. The Batman is also far darker than Spider-Man: No Way Home, which, despite featuring a major death, keeps things relatively light overall.
The success of both The Batman and Spider-Man: No Way Home shows that these long-running superheroes remain iconic figures in the public eye, and that there is room for both reinvention and familiar paths in the comic book genre. When it comes to No Way Home, the movie ended with Peter in a rather devastating place, and how he will cope with it remains to be seen. Luckily, the MCU's Spider-Man 4 is already in the works. Fans will have to wait and see how it goes.
