The Coalition Avenir Québec government's
plan to distribute $500 to most adult Quebecers is a nice move, perhaps, in light of the coming election. But from where I sit, as executive director of an organization that addresses issues of food insecurity in Montreal, it's a short-term and ill-fitting solution to the rising cost of living, and more specifically, to poverty and the growing social inequities that I had hoped would be addressed in the recent budget.
