Man Utd could field entire ELEVEN of legends nominated for Premier League Hall of Fame from Gary Neville to Wayne Rooney
MANCHESTER UNITED could field an entire starting eleven of legends nominated for the Premier League Hall of fame.
Former Red Devils captain Wayne Rooney was the latest former Prem star to be recognised as one of the greats.
Rooney joined last year’s inductees Alan Shearer and Thierry Henry alongside Former Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira.
On his induction, the now Derby boss said: “It’s a huge honour for me to be named in the Premier League Hall of Fame, alongside an incredible group of players who have already been inducted.
“Growing up, I watched the Premier League as far back as I can remember.
“My dream was always to become a professional footballer, score goals, and win trophies, and I was lucky enough to win the Premier League five times.

“I have so many brilliant memories from my years playing for Everton and Manchester United, and I’m really proud of what we achieved.
“To enter the Hall of Fame is very special for me personally and I’m grateful to be recognised.”
And Rooney could easily be joined by TEN other former Man Utd aces in the Hall of Fame.
Peter Schmeichel, Gary Neville, Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic and Patrice Evra can all be voted for.

Midfield maestro Paul Scholes is another option for footy fans to vote for, as is journeyman Teddy Sheringham.
Attackers Robin van Persie, Andy Cole and Michael Owen have also been recognised and could also be inducted.
All inducted players receive a medallion engraved with their name and the year of their induction, with a £10,000 donation made by the Premier League to a charity of their choice.
Here’s the other TEN ex-Red Devils who COULD join Rooney in the Prem Hall of Fame.
Peter Schmeichel
Schmeichel made 310 Prem appearances and kept an astonishing 128 clean sheets.
The Dane won Player of the Season in 1996 and won FIVE Prem titles.
His son, Kasper, has won the Premier League with Leicester City in 2016, in what was a freak season.
Gary Neville
Neville came through the ranks at Man Utd as a part of the Class of 92.
The right-back went on to win an eye-watering EIGHT Prem titles with Man Utd.
He also kept 148 clean sheets.
Rio Ferdinand
Regarded as one of the best centre-backs of his generation, it’s no surprise to see Ferdinand nominated for the Hall of Fame.
The former Man Utd captain won the division six times in 504 appearances.
Nemanja Vidic
Vidic starred alongside Ferdinand for many years and picked up FIVE Prem trophies in just 211 league appearances.
The steely Serb also won Player of the Season twice in 2009 and 2011.
Patrice Evra
He loved winning trophies as much as he loved the game.
Evra is seen as one of the Prem’s best-ever left-backs and has FIVE titles to his name.
The frenchman remains a fan favourite.
Paul Scholes
Not many players win league titles into the double digits… enter Scholes.
The midfield maestro won 11, yes 11, Prem titles in his Man Utd career.
Scholes made 499 league appearances, scoring 107 goals.
Teddy Sheringham
Journeyman Sheringham made 418 Prem appearances in his long, trophy-laden career.
He scored 146 goals across his Prem career, and won the golden boot in 1993.
Sheringham also has three Prem titles to his name.
Robin van Persie
The Flying Dutchman.
Van Persie played for two of England’s biggest clubs in Arsenal and Man Utd.
The move to the latter caused controversy.
But he won a Prem title with United so he wouldn’t have anything to complain about.
Van Persie scored 144 league goals in 280 appearances.
He also won the Golden Boot in 2012 and 2013.
Andy Cole
Cole played for United between 1994 and 2002.
He scored 187 Prem goals and won FIVE Prem titles during his time in England’s top flight.
Cole also won the 1994 Golden Boot.
Michael Owen
Owen is one of few Englishmen to win the prestigious Ballon d’Or award, and he won it in 2001.
The striker won one Prem title, which came at United, and he also won two Golden Boots in 1998 and 1999.
Owen scored 150 league goals in 326 appearances.
