Spider-Man: No Way Home Poster Seems To Have Stan Lee Cameo
Warning: this article contains major Spider-Man: No Way Home spoilers.
A new promotional Spider-Man: No Way Home poster from popular graphic artist BossLogic features the three webheads taking on the movie's villains, but it also seems to sneak in a small cameo of Peter Parker/Spider-Man's original creator, Stan Lee. One of the most famous and celebrated names in pop culture, Lee passed away in November of 2018. He was renowned as one of the creative minds behind some of Marvel Comics' most popular superheroes, including the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, and the Avengers. Also known for showing up in Marvel movies by making small cameos, the last one he shot before his passing was for Avengers: Endgame, which was released in April of 2019.
Spider-Man: No Way Home was recently made available on digital platforms, with its physical home media release coming next month. Breaking ground for the superhero movie genre, Tom Holland's third Spider-Man movie has had fans chattering about it since its theatrical release back in December. The biggest feat the movie accomplished was bringing back both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's iterations of Spider-Man from their own franchises and having them help Holland's Spidey as supporting characters. Neither Maguire nor Garfield were shown throughout the film's marketing campaign, although fans speculated they would appear ever since Jamie Foxx was confirmed to return as Electro back in October of 2020. Despite set photos of Maguire and Garfield even leaking online before the movie's release, fans still went crazy when they came through those portals.
Spider-Man: No Way Home's Twitter page has released a new piece of promotional art, created by graphic artist BossLogic, for the marketing campaign of the film's digital home media release. At first glance, it shows a powerful scene of the movie's climax: the three Spider-Men throwing down with the sinister villains at the Statue of Liberty. However, upon closer examination, another figure can be seen in the top-left corner, standing with his arms akimbo. This might just be BossLogic honoring Lee's old tradition by giving him his due cameo. Check out the original Twitter post below:
While Spider-Man: No Way Home can certainly be seen as a culmination of Peter Parker's story in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, both Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige have confirmed that it won't be his last romp as the hero. In fact, there have been as many as three more Spider-Man movies rumored to follow this third installment. Now that he has wiped his Peter Parker identity from the world's memories and committed to being New York's friendly neighborhood web-slinger full-time, there are endless possibilities for where his story could go next — although the film's mid-credits scene did tease that he'll be dealing with the Venom symbiote soon.
Lee's small cameo in this stunning Spider-Man: No Way Home graphic art reminds us all where these amazing stories originally came from. Ever since Spider-Man was created back in the 1960s, he's been inspiring people all over the world. Peter Parker represents the fun of being a superhero — the moral obligation to always do the right thing, while also just having a great time. This all came from Lee's inspiring work, so his appearance in this poster is well deserved.
