Masked Singer: Cyclops Reveals Why He Thinks He Was On Team Bad
Cyclops was voted off The Masked Singer season 7 during episode 3, and the celebrity behind the mask reveals why he thinks he was on Team Bad.
Cyclops was revealed to be Lost actor Jorge Garcia, and he has an idea of why he was on The Masked Singer's Team Bad. For season 7, the show introduced a new format which included three teams called The Good, The Bad and The Cuddly. Each team features costumes that seemingly fit their title, like Miss Teddy on Team Cuddly or Hydra, the three-headed monster, on Team Bad. Over the first three episodes, Cyclops represented Team Bad alongside Ram and went head-to-head with the latter, McTerrier and Firefly from Team Good, and Thingamabob from Team Cuddly. He made it all the way to the Group A finals before being eliminated along with Thingamabob and revealed to be the Omaha-born actor.
During his time on the show, the actor performed renditions of "My Sacrifice" by Creed, "Suspicious Minds" by Elvis Presley and "What A Feeling" by Irene Cara from the 1983 film Flashdance. None of the panelists correctly guessed his identity, with Jenny McCarthy believing the performer to be country musician Zac Brown and Nicole Scherzinger guessing Beetlejuice star Michael Keaton. Even The Masked Singer's clever and typically on-point fans weren't able to correctly guess the actor. Instead, they were convinced Cyclops was either child star Corey Feldman or Guardians of the Galaxy actor Michael Rooker.
Now that the world knows who was really under the Cyclops costume on The Masked Singer, the actor revealed why he thinks he was put onto Team Bad this season. In an interview with People, Jorge confessed that he thinks the reason could go back to his love for monster movies as a child. "As a kid, I always was a fan of watching monster movies and stuff like that. I would root for the monsters and that stuff," he shared. He also revealed that his not-so-villainous reputation in real life may have helped him land a spot on the team as well as it went "against what people would probably expect." But while Cyclops was one of the villains of The Masked Singer season 7, Jorge can't help but think he was the cutest member of the team.
The show's panelists were shocked when they saw the actor, who is also well known for his role on Hawaii Five-0. After unmasking, Jorge revealed to host Nick Cannon that he's a big fan of the show, and he was honored to get the chance to perform. Panelist Ken Jeong then proclaimed his love for the actor, stating that Lost is one of his favorite shows of all time, while Robin Thicke came to the realization that the compass in Cyclops' clue package hinted at the popular ABC mystery series. Jorge also revealed that his Statue of David clue was a reference to his appearance on Larry David's Curb Your Enthusiasm.
It seems like Cyclops was the perfect costume for the monster-loving actor, even if he isn't necessarily on Team Bad in real life. It's great that Jorge was able to have a good time on the show and perform on something he's such a big fan of. The panelists definitely seemed to be fans of his just as much as he is of The Masked Singer. While his time on the show was fairly short, he will certainly be remembered by all of his adoring Cyclops fans.
The Masked Singer airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EDT on FOX.
