The Evil Miles Morales is Conquering New York | Screen Rant
While New York has fallen prey to some pretty dangerous rulers and supervillains such as the King in Black, the city won't be prepared for an evil Miles Morales and the Empire of the Spider. Taking place during Miles and Shift's multiversal adventure to find Miles' Uncle Aaron, new Marvel solicitations have revealed that the New York they'll be returning to has become much darker thanks to Miles' evil clone. Going beyond New York, this new first look spells disaster for the original Spider-Man Peter Parker as well.
In recent issues of Marvel's Miles Morales: Spider-Man, Brooklyn's resident Webslinger has been battling the Assessor, a new villain who captured Miles and experimented on him to create three clones: Selim, Mindspinner, and Shift. While Shift ended up joining Miles as his new brother, Miles had no choice but to battle the darker Selim and Mindspinner. As such, he seemingly destroyed them both when they fought on the Brooklyn Bridge in Miles Morales: Spider-Man #28.
However, it seems as though a version of Selim lives on in the multiverse thanks to the new Marvel solicitations for June posted on CBR. In the upcoming Miles Morales: Spider-Man #39 from Saladin Ahmed and Christopher Allen, Miles and Shift will discover a dark future in the multiverse where Selim takes over New York, having built his own empire where he rules supreme. Not only that, but Miles will have to face his best friend Ganke and grown-up sister Billie Morales who've become leaders of a rebellion. To make matters worse, things are not looking good for Peter Parker who may be facing execution if the cover art is any indication. Here's the new cover and solicitation info for the upcoming issue:
- MILES MORALES: SPIDER-MAN #39
- SALADIN AHMED (W) • CHRISTOPHER ALLEN (A) • Cover by TAURIN CLARKE
- MILES and SHIFT’S hunt through the Multiverse has landed them back in New York City, but it’s not the NYC they know – it’s THE EMPIRE OF THE SPIDER! And evil Miles clone, SELIM, has crowned himself emperor!
- To defeat the oppressive regime, Miles will need the help of rebel leaders GENERAL GANKE LEE and CAPITÁN BILLIE MORALES, who has grown up in a world without her brother and where SPIDER-MAN represents only pain and suffering.
- And if Miles fell to Selim, what does that mean for the fate of PETER PARKER?!
- 32 PGS./Rated T …$3.99
While this is likely happening on another Earth at a later time, Miles and Shift will no doubt join the resistance movement against Miles's evil clone and his empire all the same. That being said, it's probably going to be a tense reunion with Billie. According to the issue synopsis, Miles' sister has grown up without her brother and the idea of Spider-Man has become a dark symbol for everything she's fighting against as an adult. Miles and Shift will likely have to prove themselves as allies who can be trusted in the future battle that's to come.
While Miles' multiverse mission has just begun with new What If...? stories featuring different Earths where he becomes Captain America, Wolverine, and even a Mjolnir-wielding Miles Morales replacing Thor, this upcoming version of Earth will no doubt be one of his most intense adventures yet as Spider-Man. According to the new solicitation, this future Earth's Miles fell to Selim. Here's hoping the primary Miles Morales will stand a better chance at ending the Empire of the Spider when the issue releases in June from Marvel Comics.
