Stranger of Paradise: FF Origins - How to Unlock Liberator Job

0

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin features the Liberator job, which is a melee class with powerful defensive buffs that affect the whole party. The Liberator is one of Stranger of Paradise's unique jobs and it's based around a powerful blue magic spell that has appeared since FF5.

In the Final Fantasy series, blue magic is a type of magic that is copied from a monster. There are some mages who specialize in blue magic, while other games have recontextualized it, such as with Strago's Lore abilities in FF6, the Enemy Skill Materia in FF7, or Quistis' Blue Magic Limit Break in FF8.  One of the most powerful recurring blue magic spells is Mighty Guard, which casts several buffs on the party in a single action. Mighty Guard is at its most useful as one of the Enemy Skills in FF7, as it provides Haste, Barrier, and MBarrier to the party.

Stranger of Paradise has a unique twist on blue magic, as the player can absorb certain enemy attacks using Jack's soul shield, and can fire them straight back. This means the classic blue magic spells have been repurposed, with Mighty Guard now being the main ability of the Liberator job.

In order to unlock the Liberator job in Stranger of Paradise, the player will need to master the far right path of the Dragoon job's skill tree and the central path of the Warrior job. In order to unlock the Warrior job, the player needs to master the Swordsman and Ronin jobs. In order to unlock the Dragoon job, the player needs to master the Lancer and Marauder jobs.

The Liberator can use Stranger of Paradise's eight weapon types, as well as shields. The main ability of the Liberator job is Mighty Guard. In Stranger of Paradise, Mighty Guard is activated by pressing the right trigger and it creates a glowing golden circle around Jack. Those within the circle (including Jack) will heal HP and take reduced damage from enemy attacks. The only problem is that this drains MP, so it's better to save this move for instances where the player has increased their maximum MP meter.

The Liberator can also learn the Bravery Command ability, which increases the damage dealt by the party and refills the break gauge, at the cost of two MP bars. The Liberator is great for people playing Stranger of Paradise on Hard mode, as it has some powerful buffing abilities, but Mighty Guard is best saved for when the player uses resonance to pull the party together for an all-out attack, so the player still needs to be careful with the timing of their abilities.
