0

Seth Rogen has joined the cast of Aziz Ansari's directorial debut Being Mortal. Known for his raucous comedies and crude humor, Rogen made a name for himself with such hits as Superbad, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, and Funny People, a film in which he co-starred with Ansari. Rogen can most recently be seen in the hit Hulu series Pam & Tommy, where he plays Rand Gauthier, one of the disgruntled craftsmen who stole the couple's infamous sex tape. Rogen will next star as Stephen Spielberg's uncle in the upcoming semi-autobiographical feature, The Fablemans.

According to Deadline, Rogen will join the growing cast of Ansari's Being Mortal. The upcoming film will mark the two-time Emmy-winning Ansari's directorial debut. In addition, Ansari has co-written the script and will star in the film alongside Rogen and SNL-alum Bill Murray. This will be the first time Rogen and Murray have acted alongside each other in a major motion picture.

Being Mortal is based on the 2014 New York Times bestselling non-fiction book Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End by American surgeon Atul Gawande. The book explores sensitive topics such as hospice and end-of-life care for the elderly and how medical professionals can improve the lives of those who are nearing the end of theirs. No story details on the upcoming drama-comedy have been revealed. Ansari will produce the film alongside Youree Henley, who has also produced The Lighthouse and The Beguiled. Being Mortal is set to release in 2023 under Searchlight Pictures' banner.
