PORTAGE, Ohio — Back before I-75 was built just to the east, what is now State Rt. 25 through this Wood County village was part of the main highway between Detroit and Toledo to the north and Cincinnati and more distant cities to the south: Dixie Highway, also known as U.S. 25.
