Malala Yousafzai: It is hard this time to enforce ban on Afghan girls’ schools
The Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai said that it will be much harder this time for the Taliban to enforce a ban on girls’ schools in Afghanistan and that the ongoing ban will not last long.
Malala Yousafzai added that it was easy for the Taliban to restrict women at home during their first regime in the late 90s as Afghan women did not know what it meant to be empowered.
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan banned on March 23rd all teenage girls in Afghanistan to attend classes from grade 6th upwards.
Speaking at Doha Forum on Saturday, March 26, 2022, Yousafzai said the Afghan women know what it means to be educated and empowered so it will be rather difficult for the Taliban to restrict them to their homes.
Further, she added that girls’ schooling should be a precondition for international recognition in Afghanistan.
The decision made by the Taliban has shocked the world and almost all countries and UN organizations condemned the announcement.
