[Women's Tennis] Women's Tennis Opens GPAC with Victory

Doane Women's Tennis opened conference play on Saturday as they hosted Saint Mary. The Tigers got off to a quick start and posted a 6-1 victory over the Flames. The win moved Doane to 5-5 on the year and 1-0 in the GPAC.

The Tigers won the doubles team point by sweeping the three matches. Ava Macke (SR/Omaha, Neb.) and Liz van der Torre (JR/Greeley, Colo.) won 6-0 at 1-doubles, Amber Weston (SO/Mead, Colo.) and Ashlyn Kucera (FR/Grand Island, Neb.) won 6-4 at 2-doubles, and Nina Ngo (JR/Crete, Neb.) and Payton Stalder (SR/Omaha, Neb.) won 6-2 at 3-doubles.

In singles action, the Tigers won five of the six matches. Weston won by an injury default at 1-singles as she was leading Renee Acena, ranked No. 3 in the region, 5-3 when the match stopped. Macke won 6-2, 6-1, at 2-singles and van der Torre won 6-7 (5-7), 6-1, 6-3, at 3-singles. Kucera won 7-6 (7-4), 6-2, at 4-singles and Ngo picked up a 6-0, 7-6 (7-2) win at 5-singles. Stalder dropped her match as she went the distance with Reagan Boex, 2-6, 6-2, 3-6.
