Encanto 2 Theory Suggests Mirabel Will Finally Get Her Own Room
Because Mirabel doesn't get a magical gift, she also doesn't get a special room in Encanto, but all signs point to the young Madrigal getting her own space in a potential Encanto 2. Mirabel Madrigal (Stephanie Beatriz) doesn't have a normal childhood in Encanto. After Abuela Alma (Maria Cecilia Botero and Olga Merediz) received a miracle, the family got special powers. For instance, Luisa (Jessica Darrow) has unparalleled strength, hoisting animals over her head and moving entire buildings with ease. But unfortunately, Mirabel didn't get a gift during her childhood ceremony.
Encanto continues to be a runaway success for Disney. The film was the fastest title on Disney+ to reach 200 million streaming hours on the service, and the viewers who watched the movie viewed it an average of five times. In addition to the film's Oscar nominations, Encanto's soundtrack continues its wild success. The film's soundtrack reached the top of Billboard's albums chart, and "We Don't Talk About Bruno" spent weeks at the top of the Hot 100. Through it all, the filmmakers behind the movie, including Lin-Manuel Miranda, seem confident an Encanto sequel is coming.
Though Mirabel doesn't get her own bedroom in Encanto, it seems she will have one in the future. Normally, Madrigals get their own rooms on the day they receive their magic gifts. But since Mirabel didn't get a gift, she didn't get a special room either. However, Jared Bush, one of the film's directors, has been cryptic about Mirabel possibly getting her own space in the future. Bush said (via Twitter) that he has "ideas" about Mirabel's potential room. Bush added, "Finger crossed we get to return one day." The tweet seems to suggest that Mirabel will have her own space, and the evidence is adding up.
From the director's tweet, it appears Stephanie Beatriz's Mirabel Madrigal will get her own room. If she weren't getting a room, Bush would likely shoot down the idea in the first place. However, Mirabel brings the miracle back to the Madrigals at the end of the film, placing the final doorknob on the magical house. So it makes sense that the magic would make room for Mirabel. If anyone deserves a special room, it's her. Additionally, since the Madrigals built the new house, they would obviously have a room for Mirabel in the plans. Sure, the magical house used to assign the bedrooms, but construction would take long enough that the Madrigals could make a space for Mirabel.
There's always an outside possibility that Disney's potential Encanto 2 doesn't give Mirabel a room. After all, Mirabel is reasonably comfortable in her nursery bedroom in Encanto. After living in the room her whole life, she may simply want to be there for comfort. However, if the Madrigals didn't include a room for Mirabel in their construction plans, that would be an unusual family choice. If that's the case, the Madrigals have some significant issues to work out in Encanto 2.
