Data Drive: The state of job creation

Four states—Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat—account for half the new formal jobs created in the first ten months of FY22, an analysis of EPF data by Kotak Institutional Equities shows. Formal job creation seems to have been independent of ease of doing business rankings, suggesting states will need to focus on an outcome-oriented approach even as they work on improving processes.
