Love Is Blind: Every Couple That Proved The Experiment Can Work
Netflix has always promoted Love Is Blind as an experiment to find out whether love can truly be blind, and a handful of couples have been able to prove that this experiment does, in fact, work. When considering dating series like Married At First Sight, 90 Day Fiancé, and other shows that feature the quick pairing up of individuals who barely know one another, there wasn't a lot of faith behind Netflix's Love Is Blind prior to the release of its inaugural season.
With that said, it didn't take all that long for Love Is Blind to take the world by storm, become a mainstream dating competition, and compete with longstanding successful franchises such as The Bachelor and Love Island. While a lot of media attention on Love Is Blind season 1 was placed on the trainwreck relationship between Mark Cuevas and Jessica Batten, fans were also highly invested in the relationships that did work on the show.
Out of five featured couples in season 1, two pairs went through with a blind proposal in the pods and got married at the end of the series. Meanwhile, one couple couldn't say "I do" at the altar but kept on dating for many years out in the real world. In 2022, two couples on Love Is Blind season 2 also followed through with the entire process of getting engaged in the pods and getting married at the finale. In just two seasons, there's already plenty of evidence that this Netflix experiment does work for a lot of people.
It really doesn't get much better than Lauren Speed and Cameron Hamilton, who were universally beloved by Love Is Blind fans and ultimately became the "poster couple" for the entire series. Cameron and Lauren fell in love without ever seeing each other, got engaged in the pods, and then got married at the grand finale. They had a truly picture-perfect relationship on the show and are still together to this day. Overall, it'll be incredibly hard for any future Love Is Blind couple to top the favoritism that Lauren and Cameron have among fans of the show. Besides creating content for their social media platforms and YouTube channel, Lauren was also cast as the host of the 2021 dating competition Match Me If You Can on MTV.
There was always a lot of hesitation when it came to Love Is Blind season 1 stars Amber Pike and Matthew Barnett. First and foremost, Barnett was caught in between the storyline that Jessica was apparently in love with him - not with Mark over the course of when season 1 was filmed. After Amber met Barnett's family, it also seemed like his family was concerned about Barnett making a rash decision to get married on Love Is Blind to a woman that he didn't know for that long. Against all odds, though, Barnett and Amber are still happily married as of 2022. During the After The Altar special episodes, Amber still seemed to hold a lot of things against Jessica. In any case, her marriage with Barnett is clearly going great.
It was heartbreaking to watch Giannina Gibelli get stood up at the altar by Damian Powers at the Love Is Blind season 1 finale. Despite their very real connection on the show and the fact that he truly loved her, Damian couldn't go through with marriage at that time. With that said, Giannina and Damian kept on dating after the show ended for quite a few years, proving that the experiment did work for them after all. Damian and Giannina broke up in 2021, but they still had a successful years-long relationship that came out of the Love Is Blind experiment. After their breakup, Damian was attached to Too Hot To Handle season 1 star Francesca Farago, but that relationship didn't progress much further. Giannina was shown in the After The Altar special episodes processing the news that Damian had brought Francesca - a potential new girlfriend - to an event that was meant to celebrate their season of Love Is Blind.
Iyanna McNeely and Jarrette Jones were one of the most popular, stable, and compelling couples to be featured on Love Is Blind season 2. Iyanna took the entire process seriously and really got to know Jarrette before committing to him. In turn, Jarrette had a more lighthearted approach to the show due to his sense of humor, but that didn't stop him from taking Iyanna very seriously. Despite having a good connection with Mallory Zapata in the pods, Jarrette knew where his priorities were lying and felt like Iyanna was the right woman for him to propose to. As a result, they had a pretty drama-free journey throughout the season with minor obstacles that were easily resolved between them over time. At the reunion, Iyanna and Jarrette reinforced how happy they've been as a married couple.
Similar to Barnett and Amber in season 1, a lot of viewers had certain initial reservations when it came to the relationship between Danielle Ruhl and Nick Thompson. Individually, both Danielle and Nick seemed like great people with good intentions who were giving their relationship a fair shot. On the other hand, Danielle and Nick clashed on Love Is Blind a few times, which put into question how successful they'd be as a married couple. Nonetheless, Danielle and Nick put the work in and overcame all of the adversities that came their way. Over the course of season 2, Nick talked about how he and Danielle learned to communicate very well with each other in the pods, which were building blocks they relied on when problems came to the surface. Like the aforementioned couples, Danielle and Nick really proved how the Love Is Blind experiment can and has worked for a lot of couples.
After featuring 10 couples between Love Is Blind seasons 1 and 2, half of them turned into long relationships, with four of them still being happily married as of 2022. This success rate of 40% is much, much higher than any other dating show, including the likes of The Bachelor, Love Island, and others. With Lauren & Cameron, Amber & Barnett, Iyanna & Jarrette, and Danielle & Nick still being married, they have certainly proved that love can indeed be blind. And while things didn't work out in the long run for Giannina & Damian, fans can surely call a relationship that lasted for many years a pretty successful one.
