Star Trek director Marvin J Chomsky dead at 92 as son reveals four-time Emmy-winning dad passed in his sleep
STAR Trek director Marvin J Chomsky has died at the age of 92.
The Emmy winner passed away in his sleep on Monday, according to his son Peter.

Along with directing on Star Trek, he worked on shows like Roots and Attica during his career.
The New York native graduated from Syracuse University in 1950 and went on to have various jobs in the entertainment industry before starting as a director.
He was an art director on shows like The Doctors and Nurses and a set decorator on shows like Play of the Week.
After a little time in his original role on The Doctors and Nurses, he went on to be an associate producer of it for a short while, as well.
It was also where he started his directing career, helming a few episodes from 1964 to 1965.

From there he directed episodes of the adventure show Maya and the action series The Wild Wild West before landing his job on Star Trek in the late 60s.
His other television directing credits include episodes of Then Came Bronson, Gunsmoke, Mission: Impossible, Hawaii Five-O, Strauss Dynasty, and more.
On the movie front, he helmed films like Catherine the Great, I’ll Be Home for Christmas, Doctor Franken, Good Luck Miss Wyckoff, as well as others.
Throughout the 70s and 80s, Marvin earned multiple Emmy nominations and wins.
He was nominated for projects like Billionaire Boys Club and Evita Peron.
Meanwhile, the director won at the Emmys for Peter the Great in 1986, Inside the Third Reich in 1982, and Holocaust in 1978.
Marvin is survived by his sons Peter, Eric, and David, as well as his granddaughter Liliana.
After news of his passing was revealed, tributes for the late director from fans and fellow entertainment professionals started to make the rounds on social media.
Ryan Britt, who authored an upcoming book all about Star Trek, wrote on Twitter, alongside a screenshot from the show: “RIP Marvin J. Chomsky. For #StarTrek people, he gave us this wonderfully romantic moment.
