Ken – who died on Christmas Day six years ago – had expressed his wish to have his ashes scattered underneath a pear tree he planted at Claire’s Mallorca mansion.

But in an error, her mum Kathleen began digging a hole underneath the wrong tree – and refused to move him after Claire flagged the error.

Claire said: “My mum was burying my dad’s ashes, but it was under the wrong tree.

“I thought ‘do we ruin this moment’. I said to her and she said ‘he won’t know it doesn’t matter’.

“She was sobbing with this spade… so we had a cheers and celebrated his life and then everything in the house went wrong.

“The electrics went, the air conditioning went, eerything just went wrong on a daily basis.

“I said, ‘mum this isn’t right what’s going on, do me a favour and just put him back under the tree he wanted to be under’.

“So we did and everything went back to normal.”

The former Brookside actress shot to fame playing Lindsey Corkhill on the show on and off from 1991 until 2003.

This week she admitted she found it devastating to part with the property where her dad is buried – after being forced to sell because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Claire revealed she had only earned £5,000 last year, forcing her to sell her Spanish villa.

The 50, admitted that the pandemic hit her finances hard, so she had to take drastic action.

In an interview with The Sunday Times about money, Claire was asked how much she earned last year.

She said: “Under £5,000. Our industry was decimated. Thankfully I’d sold a house in Spain, in 2019, so I was blessed that I could sit it out comfortably.

“It was a big house in Mallorca that I’d bought in 2004 for €690,000.”
