Animal Crossing Player Perfectly Recreates Turning Red's Mei Bedroom
An inspired Turning Red fan managed to recreate Mei Lee's bedroom with the baked-in tools featured in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Unsurprisingly, this does not mark the first time the acclaimed Disney/Pixar film has made its way into Animal Crossing via fan-made creations. A couple of weeks ago, players brought Turning Red characters to life through ACNH cosplay in-game, with all four leading characters - Priya, Mei, Miriam, and Abby - receiving representation.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons launched digitally and at retail a little over two years ago for the Nintendo Switch. Since then, creative users around the globe have found ways to recreate their favorite pop culture touchstones with in-game design tools. Players were able to kick things up a notch in this regard late last year when Nintendo rolled out ACHN's Happy Home Paradise DLC, a paid expansion that tasks players with designing dream vacation homes for various villagers. As a result, vacation homes have been rendered to look like everything from a Stardew Valley farm and Frasier's Seattle apartment to Hogwarts Great Hall and the Raccoon City Police Department from Resident Evil. Of course, Pixar's Turning Red has inspired several new designs in its own right.
Reddit user hk9yearolds recently shared a screenshot of their Turning Red-inspired Animal Crossing: New Horizons build. The design in question recreates Mei's bedroom from the hit Pixar animated film, complete with flowery wallpaper and a wooden side table. Even small touches like the white bed frame and green-painted mirror frame made the cut. And the villager the Redditor used in place of Mei wears the same shocked expression as the Turning Red protagonist in one particular scene. Check out comparison images in the linked post below:
As many pointed out in the Reddit thread, hk9yearolds' incredible Turning Red recreation has raised one very important question - Why is it that none of ACNH's many villager characters come in the form of a red panda? It seems like an obvious character type for Animal Crossing, yet, for some reason, Nintendo has not seen fit to add the adorable, acrobatic animal to the franchise's roster of villagers.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons hit store shelves in March 2020 and quickly became a worldwide phenomenon. The latest entry in Nintendo's long-running social simulation series has garnered quite a sizable audience, too. After two years on the market, ACNH has managed to shift a staggering 37-plus million units around the globe. It's no wonder so many inventive fan creations regularly make the rounds.
