Lots Of Eye-Openers – Newcastle United Star Out On Loan Makes Admission

The teenager left Newcastle on a temporary basis in January to join League Two side Hartlepool in a bid to clock up game time on a regular basis.

White has racked up ten league appearances for the Monkey Hangers so far into his stint, while registering two assists in the process.

And the 19-year-old has revealed that his loan spell at Victoria Park has been an eye-opening experience for him and feels he has maintained good standards in his performance on the pitch.

White added that he has been looking after himself better to remain in tip top condition, which has allowed him to play on a regular basis to prove to Newcastle that he is capable of performing at senior level.

“I had a little bet with Steve Harper [Newcastle academy manager] on goals and assists”, White told Chronicle Live.

“He said to get four goals and five assists.

“I haven’t got as many goals as I’d like but I’m involved.

“Whether it’s the pass before the assist, that’s the type of player I am.

“I like to create, I like to be around the box and find the people to finish.

“It’s been a very good experience with a lot of eye-openers.

“I would have liked a few more goals and assists, but my performances all-round have been good.

“You have to spend more time in recovery with the amount of games and really focus on what you’re doing off the pitch as well.

“I’ve had to look after myself more than ever before, not just to help Hartlepool but for myself to get those minutes and prove to Newcastle I can do it.”

White recently signed a new long-term contract at St James’ Park, that will see him remain at the club until the summer of 2025.
