Marvel's Avengers Update Disappoints Fans With PS5 Crashes

0

A new Marvel's Avengers patch was meant to introduce quality-of-life improvements, but instead the recent update led to constant PlayStation 5 crashes. The changes made to the game, like reintroducing Nick Fury as a guide for new players, have also been regarded as too inconsequential to actually improve the experience. The Marvel's Avengers War Table update was exciting for the title's fanbase, but it appears to have actually made the experience even worse.

While the title has been widely criticized for its microtransactions, lack of endgame content and numerous technical issues, Marvel's Avengers players have praised the game's single-player storyline and each hero's unique combat style. Since release developer Crystal Dynamics has also supported the game with free post-launch content, including story campaigns like Future Imperfect and War for Wakanda. These updates added new playable heroes, like Black Panther, Kate Bishop and Hawkeye, alongside brand-new environments and boss encounters to experience. Many players have also praised Marvel's Avengers' MCU outfits, which give each character a costume inspired by their live-action counterparts.

While many players looked forward to the new War Table update, Marvel's Avengers (via Twitter) has announced that the new update is crashing PlayStation 5 consoles. While Crystal Dynamics is currently investigating the issue, a Reddit post from GrimheerGaming reveals that the problem is affecting many users. The PS5 crash issue is particularly frustrating, since the War Table update was actually delayed once in order to ensure polish. The fanbase is disappointed by other aspects of the update, too, like Nick Fury's sudden reappearance into the story and the removal of multiple missions from the game.

Despite ongoing issues with Marvel's Avengers, players are expecting to see a new hero announced in the near future. Rumors suggest that Marvel's Avengers will add Jane Foster as a brand-new playable character, though she will likely borrow heavily from Thor's moveset. The introduction of Foster would make for an excellent tie-in to the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder, which is set to feature the character, and her similarity to Thor would make designing her abilities much easier. However, Crystal Dynamics has yet to officially announce Jane Foster or a 2022 content roadmap for Marvel's Avengers.

Crystal Dynamics is still attempting to fix Marvel's Avengers through improvements to the War Table, but the new update has only further damaged the game's reputation. Many PlayStation 5 users are unable to even enter the game without a crash, and the changes made with the update seem inconsequential. Crystal Dynamics is apparently working on the crash issue, but it seems that there are much deeper problems for the developer to fix.
