Bruce Willis ‘stepping away’ from acting because of aphasia diagnosis
Bruce Willis is “stepping away” from acting due to aphasia, a condition that deprives people of the ability to communicate.
Willis’ family wrote on Instagram Wednesday that the 67-year-old star was grappling with the cognitive disorder.
“As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him,” reads a post signed by his wife, daughters and ex-wife, Demi Moore. “This is a really challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion and support.”
That posting said Willis and his loved ones were moving forward as “a strong family unit,” but felt an obligation to share news of the “Die Hard” star’s condition with fans.
“As Bruce always says, ‘Live it up’ and together we plan to do just that,” his family signed off.
That posting included a photo of a mischievous looking Willis looking ready for a challenge.
