BAFTA Awards Make Their Stance Clear on What Would Have Happened if Will Smith's Slap Had Happened During Their Ceremony Instead

BAFTA Awards executives have made their stance clear on what would have happened to Will Smith had he hit Chris Rock during their awards show instead.

If you didn’t see, Will went on stage during the 2022 Oscars and hit Chris after Chris told a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith‘s hair.

One BAFTA exec was asked what would happen if something similar happened at the London, England-based show.

“They would be removed from the ceremony,” Sara Putt, chair of BAFTA’s television committee and deputy chair of BAFTA, told THR. “They would not be in the buildings, so they would not physically be able to collect their award.”

“We do not tolerate violence of any kind,” added Emma Baehr, BAFTA’s executive director of awards and content.

Sara then said, “It’s just a complete red line for us.
