Summer House: Why Fans Have Mixed Feelings About Carl Leaving The Show

0

Summer House fans have been debating whether or not Carl Radke should leave the party-filled show or stay and continue sharing his sobriety journey. Viewers are seeing a new and improved Carl as of late. While his housemates enjoy drinking every weekend in the Hamptons, Carl is enjoying his newfound sobriety. The new difference in his lifestyle has some fans concerned that the Hamptons house might be the wrong environment for Carl right now.

Carl's first attempt at living a sober life was shown on Summer House season 5. However, following the death of his brother, Carl hit a stump that took him on a short downward spiral. By the time Carl returned to film Summer House season 6, he was six months sober and focused on not relapsing. Despite his housemates partying hard every weekend, Carl avoided consuming any alcohol while still having fun. Considering Carl's past wild boy antics prior to his sobriety, some viewers think that him being in the house could tempt him to pick up a drink.

After watching all the drama that went down in the most recent episodes of Summer House, one fan sounded off on whether Carl should consider exiting the show. "Unfortunately, I think it’s Carl’s time to leave the Summer House," @takeyourzoloft tweeted. The tweet sent show fans into a debate on if this is Carl's time to leave the Hamptons' house. Some assumed that the fan insinuated that Carl has become "boring" since becoming sober and said there is nothing wrong with including cast members who are trying to "better themselves." Another fan said that Carl shouldn't feel forced to leave the show just because he's sober "and no longer toxic." Meanwhile, they credited Carl for bringing "balance between the castmates."

Carl was also applauded for "navigating the show in a new way." Since season 1, viewers have watched these young professionals work throughout the week before heading out to the Hamptons to party for the weekend. Between seasons 1 and 4, Carl was clearly one of the bad boys. He enjoyed binge drinking, hooking up with different women, and doing it all over again the following weekend. By season 4, however, Carl started to realize that he had a drinking problem. When he lost his brother in season 5, it felt like the final confirmation he needed to change his life around.

Carl has credited the show for helping him stay accountable and continue his sobriety. Since then, he and Lindsay Hubbard have started dating and fans are hopeful that this new relationship will bring out the best in them. Summer House season 7 will follow Carl and Lindsay as a couple for the first time, and while Carl is living a sober lifestyle, Lindsay does not. The two longtime friends have always been a great support for each other. With that said, viewers will be watching to see Carl and Lindsay's dynamic as a couple who have very different partying styles.
