RuPaul’s Drag Race: Bosco Jokes About Blacking Out After Return
RuPaul’s Drag Race fans love a twist ending, and season 14 competitor Bosco is opening up about her shocking return to the competition after being eliminated. RuPaul is known to allow both of the bottom lip-syncing queens to avoid elimination if they both provide a stunning performance. Season 14 has shaken things up with a never-been-seen twist: the golden chocolate bar. In the third episode of the season, RuPaul instructed the remaining queens to select from a group of wrapped chocolate bars. One special treat contained a sweet side of redemption. When two queens reach the bottom, the queen that loses the lip-sync battle can save themselves and return to the competition if their chocolate bar contains the golden marker.
A dash of luck can make any competition-based game more exciting. Unfortunately for the subsequent seven Drag Race contestants, the golden bar was nowhere to be seen after revealing their bars only contained chocolate. Chocolate is delicious, but victory tastes even better. The 13th episode of Drag Race included a show-stopping Moulin Rouge!-inspired theme, with the queens tasked with performing in a Moulin Ru! musical. The song-and-dance challenge led to queens Bosco and Jorgeous in the bottom two. The two queens lip-synced to “Heartbreak Hotel”, with Jorgeous ultimately winning the battle. The end seemed near for Bosco, but the exciting twist of season 14 had other plans.
In an interview with EW, Bosco reveals how it felt to peel back the candy wrapper to learn that she selected the coveted golden chocolate bar. Bosco admits that she felt defeated after the lip-sync battle, confident that her performance would end her Drag Race journey. Alas, her luck in choosing the secret golden chocolate bar saved the day, and Bosco was allowed to return to the competition. “I started scream-laughing, I think I blacked out,” Bosco explains. “Full astral projection, scream-laughing. I remember screaming, 'This season is never going to f---ing end!'"
Bosco also humorously opened up with behind-the-scenes details of the difficulty of unwrapping the chocolate bar. "They do a really nice job of editing out how hard it is to open those chocolate bars,” Bosco confided. “There's usually about a minute of us struggling with the wrapping, and that's always really funny to watch. I struggled with the wrapping a little bit and saw this piece of gold sticking out, and I was like, there's no way. It was the full gold bar.” The twist of Drag Race season 14 has arrived. In true Moulin Rouge fashion, Bosco’s show must go on.
Bosco has been a RuPaul's Drag Race season 14 fan favorite for her vulnerability, daring personality, and a huge heart. Even when arguing with other drag queens, she has been quick to find peace with her competitors, so her return to the competition has been widely celebrated. The golden chocolate bar being opened so late in the Drag Race season raises the stakes even higher for the remaining queens to bring everything they have to the Werk Room and runway. Only a few episodes remain in the exciting 14th season, so Bosco will need to show that she has what it takes to maintain her place in the running for the Drag Race crown.
RuPaul's Drag Race season 14 airs Fridays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on VH1.
