Sims 4 Player Design Recreates LOTR's Rivendell Council (Without CC)
A Sims 4 player shared an incredibly impressive build this week with a recreation of Rivendell from Lord of the Rings. Building famous pop-culture locations in The Sims 4 is a common activity for many players, with users often sharing their own versions of everything from classic movie sets to popular locales in other video games. Selling over 36 million copies since its release in 2014, The Sims 4 has one of the largest and most active creative communities in gaming.
The Sims series has always been about player creativity and freedom to do whatever they wish in-game, both in how their Sims' lives play out and what they choose to build. The base game offers a wide range of options when it comes to building and designing, which is further expanded upon by the many Sims 4 DLC releases that often add more furniture and other building elements to the game. For building recreations of famous places, many players turn to custom content - objects made by users and then shared online - for the specific items they require.
Reddit user TheSimScrolls shared their brilliant Rivendell design this week, complete with many characters from the series. Their detail is impeccable, capturing everything from the plants that grow all around Rivendell to the meeting area's intricate architecture - with all the ornate pieces included, the user has likely created an incredibly expensive Sims 4 lot. They've even given their photo a cinematic feel, beautifully capturing rays of sunlight flowing into the scene. Many famous characters from both the movies and books can be seen, including Gandalf, Frodo, Legolas, Gimli, and Elrond along with what appear to be his two sons, Elladan and Elrohir.
Besides its detail, one of the most impressive things about this build is the fact that the user utilized no custom content for its creation. It's rare to see such a perfectly crafted build such as this that has only utilized items offered by the game, particularly for one from a fantasy setting. Typically, when Sims creations are from another time period or world altogether, it's nearly impossible to find all necessary resources from the game alone. Many players have joked that while the build itself is impressive, it's almost equally impressive the user managed to get all of the Sims to sit at the same time, referencing a notorious quirk of the series that makes photo opportunities incredibly difficult.
There is a lot for Sims and Lord of the Rings fans alike to enjoy about this design. The recreation of so many classic characters in an incredible touch that must have taken an exorbitant amount of time, alongside the hours the build itself undoubtedly took. One of the best things about pop-culture spots being recreated in The Sims 4 is the storytelling potential it offers other players - Rivendell is now available on the Sims Gallery, allowing other players to download it and tell their own Lord of the Rings stories in-game. Although The Sims 4 has been out for 7 years, it remains incredibly popular, largely in part to the game's active creative community.
