On March 29, warplanes of the Iraqi Air Force (IQAF) carried out a series of four airstrikes on hideouts of ISIS cells in al-Shai Valley in the southern countryside of Kirkuk.
In a brief statement, a spokesperson for the Iraqi Commander-in-Chief said that the airstrikes were carried out in coordination with the military’s Joint Operations Command and based on information provided by the Intelligence and Counter-Terrorism Cell in the Military Intelligence Directorate.
The spokesman, Maj. Gen. Yehia Rasool, shared footage of the pinpoint airstrikes without providing any details about their results.

ISIS cells have been fairly active in Kirkuk. The terrorists carried out at least nine attacks in the different parts of the province during March.
On March 20, ISIS terrorists pounded a position of the Iraqi military near the town of al-Qaharah with mortars. On March 22, the terrorists shelled another position of the Iraqi military near the town of Tamour, also with mortars. ISIS’s news agency, Amaq, shared photos of the indirect fire attacks.
The IQAF stepped up its combat operations against ISIS cells in Iraq in the last few months. The air force operations inflicted some really heavy losses on the terrorist group. In spite of this, the group’s cells are still active in the northern and western regions of the country.
