Video: Tottenham youngster scores two goals on his senior international debut
Tottenham youngster Kallum Cesay enjoyed a fairytale debut for Sierra Leone, netting a brace to help his nation beat Congo Republic 2-1.
Cesay has impressed for Tottenham’s Under-23s this season, having made 18 appearances so far (Transfermakrt), with the teenager featuring both as a left-back and a right-back.
Although the defender is yet to make a senior appearance for the Lilywhites, he did make the bench for three of Tottenham’s UEFA Europa Conference League matches this season (TransferMarkt).
The 19-year-old was called up to the Sierra Leone squad for the first time last week and he was handed his first cap for his country on Tuesday in an international friendly held in Turkey where they were taking place in the Antalya Cup.
The Spurs youngster started in midfield, where he has previously featured within the academy setup in north London.
Cesay more than repaid the faith of manager John Keister, netting a brace in the second half to help his side overcome Congo, who got a late consolation through Vieljeux Prestige Mboungou.
His first came from the penalty spot in the 52nd minute and bagged a second just eleven minutes later with a neat left-footed finish into the bottom corner.

This will do wonders for Cesay’s confidence and one would expect him to return to Spurs with a spring in his step. Experiencing the pressure of playing for his country in front of big crowds will be extremely beneficial for the teenager’s development.
