The Boys: Homelander's Darkest Kill Showed Off His True Strength and Power
Warning! Spoilers for The Boys below
Among the darkest acts Homelander has committed, few were as brutal as when he killed Queen Maeve in The Boys comic series - as it remains his ultimate show of power. In The Boys #63 by Dynamite Comics, Homelander is attacked by his fellow member of The Seven who protects Starlight after he makes it clear he's going to kill her for leaving the group. The scene ends up being one of the most violent moments of the entire series.
Homelander might be considered the greatest Supe in the world by the general public, but the leader of The Seven is a complete monster in The Boys comic book series. The "hero" and Vought-American manipulated the public to overlook some of his greatest atrocities, while propping up the Compound-V powered Supe as their version of Superman. Time and time again, Homelander has showed off his deranged philosphy as a hero and used his powers to cause more harm than good. Throughout the series, his toxic existence driven by his own insecurities makes him a one-person horror show, as he kills without remorse. No death showed off his incredible powers more than when he killed Queen Maeve.
In The Boys #63 by Garth Ennis, Tony Avina, Russ Braun, Darick Robertson, and Simon Bowland, Homelander prepares for his attack on the White House as he learns Queen Maeve was working alongside The Boys in planting bugs across The Seven's headquarters. As Starlight is about to leave the group (with Queen Maeve), Homelander tells his fellow Supes that he can't let them go. Queen Maeve throws Starlight out of range to protect her while attacking Homelander with her sword. Homelander laughs as it breaks over his head (as it was a prop) and kills Queen Maeve with a single punch.
The moment in The Boys is incredibly violent, as Queen Maeve's bloody head wizzes by Starlight. Still, Homelander can't help but smile as he's covered in blood from the encounter. In a single act, Homelander showed how strong he is, taking out one of the most powerful heroes on Earth with barely exerting any power himself - revealing the Supe at full strength is practically unstoppable.
Ultimately, Queen Maeve died a noble death protecting Starlight, but at that moment in a bloody final showdown between for teammates, Homelander proved that his power is largely unmatched. It would take a very special-powered person to take down Homelander later in the series, as he proved to be an unstoppable force of violence for almost the entire series. Homelander's darkest kill showed why he was the ultimate Supe in The Boys.
