Harry Potter: The Most Frustrating Decisions Harry, Ron And Hermione Made

0

One of the main reasons why die-hard Harry Potter fans love the sage is the friendship between the three main characters. With Hermione being the intellectual, Ron being the comic relief, and Harry being the brave leader, each of the three friends brings a different aspect to the stories.

However, all three characters' strengths are balanced by their quite serious flaws. Between Ron's lack of motivation, Hermione's stubbornness, and Harry's impulsive decisions, there are plenty of situations that made Harry Potter fans frustrated with the main characters of the series.

Though fans weren't exactly thrilled about Snape as a character until discovering the truth about him in the final movie, viewers were still frustrated with Harry when he wasn't paying close attention during Snape's Occlumency lessons. While some viewers can understand why Harry didn't want to listen to Snape given their rocky and complicated relationship due to Snape's initially evil nature, it was still vital for him to try his best.

Consequentially, Harry's lack of attention paid to Snape came back to bite him later when trying to apply the course material in imminently dangerous situations, forcing him to realize Snape's true intentions in helping him. The fact that Harry was wasting Snape's time when he was nice enough to help educate Harry still annoys fans to this day.

It's no secret that Ron definitely did not live up to his wizarding potential throughout the series. While this idea is essential to his character, fans often wonder how he got so far without being at all knowledgeable about his craft.

As portrayed several times in the films, Ron would be seen not paying attention in class or acting as the class clown, which was entertaining while simultaneously disappointing. Fans often wonder to this day how Ron fits in with such great wizards like Harry and Hermione, with some viewers even arguing that Hermione deserved better than Ron.

While it's clear Hermione is highly intelligent with some claiming she was the best wizard, there were several occasions when she was too brave for her own good. When Hogwarts was under attack after the Chamber of Secrets opened, Hermione took it upon herself to wander around alone, which came back to bite her when she encountered the deadly Basilisk.

Though she ended up saving the day by acquiring the book's page on the detailed background of the creature, it was a close call that stunned fans. Knowing how usually apprehensive and calculated she is, fans are shocked to this day that she ever did such a thing.

While fans understand that Harry must always do the right thing as the main protagonist, that hasn't stopped them from wishing he had just gone on to win the Triwizard Cup. If Harry hadn't gone back to help Cedric, his death could've possibly been avoided.

The scene in the maze was a tough one to watch, as fans saw how close Harry was to winning the whole thing, and they were kind of annoyed seeing him throw it all away to help his competition. While it's not guaranteed that Cedric's life would have been spared due to the high death toll the competition was been known for in the past, it would have no doubt saved a headache of a time with Voldemort if Harry had just proceeded to win the cup.

One plot point that frustrated fans to watch was Ron pursuing random classmate Lavender Brown. Though it was apparent that Lavender had pure intentions, some viewers found their dynamic ridiculous and pointless, as they had no true chemistry, not like Ron and Hermione anyway.

Though it's clear that Ron had no real interest in Lavender, that's what made fans even more frustrated; Not only that he was using Lavender, but he was willing to hurt Hermione instead of being honest about his feelings and taking initiative with her.

Fans believe for several reasons that Hermione should have used her endless knowledge of spells and wits to craft a plan to escape Bellatrix's grip in Deathly Hallows: Part One. If Harry, Dobby, and Ron hadn't come to her rescue, she might have been out of luck if she didn't plan on crafting an escape plan of her own.

Though it's understandable that fighting back against such a powerful dark wizard could be dangerous for Hermione and possibly make matters worse, some viewers believe she could have pulled it off, and it could have even been her chance to shine without the boys' help and end Lestrange once and for all, therefore sparing Dobby's life, as well.

At the time of Half-Blood Prince's release, fans were in absolute disbelief that Harry didn't try to step in and save Dumbledore's life. Even though it could have been dangerous for Harry to interject, viewers fully expected him to at least try, given how he frequently weasels his way out of dangerous situations.

Given how important of a mentor Dumbledore was to Harry, it was quite aggravating to see Harry just stand by and let such a horrid situation play out. While it's clear within the context of the later movies why Dumbledore's death was strategically executed the way it was, that didn't stop fans from being absolutely heartbroken and confused in 2009.

There were several situations throughout the series where Ron's jealousy stunted him, with his fearful tendencies causing him to come back. More specifically, Ron's insecurities would creep in around Harry's success and in fear of losing Hermione.

One particular situation where Ron lost control was with the power of the locket Horcrux, however, it was still apparent that Ron felt like a third-wheel in the Horcrux hunt when he saw Harry and Hermione bonding together and comforting each other. Considering true fans know that Harry and Hermione never had anything serious going on between them, it was hard for viewers to watch Ron act so dramatically and refuse to help any further in the hunt.

One inconsistent out-of-character moment fans found with Harry was his refusal to ever use the killing curse when he hadn't hesitated to use unforgivable curses before. While the Avada Kedavra spell is on another level of evil, fans still found it hypocritical of Harry to act like he would be stooping too low when he was so reckless with dangerous spells like Imperius, Cruciatus, and attempting Crucio.

Considering Harry had a deep fear of becoming evil, it only makes sense for him to not want to touch the death spell, as it's mostly used by users of the Dark Arts. However, fans can't help but think of all the mayhem he could have prevented by killing Lord Voldemort once and for all.
