Silicon Valley tech workers are complaining about bidets being removed from their office
In what might seem like an April Fool’s joke a day early, tech workers in California are upset about losing their office bidets.
After telling staff to return to the office following the easing of pandemic restrictions, Google has taken the nefarious step of removing the heated bidets.
Edgar Tovar, who handles maintenance at Google facilities, told staffers that taking away the facilities ‘has the added benefit of supporting Google’s water sustainability commitments.’
‘Many of our buildings are migrating to recycled water systems which cannot support bidets,’ he wrote, according to Protocol.
And it’s not gone down well.
Google staffers have taken to internal message boards and social media to express their displeasure. One now-deleted tweet called the removal of the bidets ‘my #2 issue with RTO [return to office]’.
As you can see, the sarcasm has been flying.
In fact, a third-party bidet manufacturer even offered to step in and supply Googlers with their own bidets to fix the problem.
‘It’s impossible to be a hands-on Googler if one hand is tied up itching a dirty butt,’ Miki Agrawal, the founder of New York-based bidet maker Tushy wrote in an open letter.
It’s not clear yet whether or not Google has decided to take Agrawal up on his offer.
