‘Nobody’s done that s***’ – UFC star Khamzat Chimaev looking to beat Conor McGregor’s record and win three world titles
KHAMZAT CHIMAEV has set his sights on becoming the UFC’s first three-weight world champion.
The undefeated Russian will likely earn a crack at the promotion’s welterweight title should he get past Gilbert Burns at UFC 273 next weekend.
Chimaev, 27, has spoken openly about moving up in weight and challenging dominant middleweight king Israel Adesanya for the 185lbs strap.
But he’s also eyeing an unprecedented third belt at light-heavyweight, telling UFC Fight Pass: “I want to take three belts. Nobody’s done that s***.”
Chimaev first made his desire to claim three UFC titles known last month, telling RT: “I don’t want to be just a regular guy who won one belt.
“I want two or three belts. We’ll see, if I can do it I will do it. We may make our plans, but God has the last word.”

Chimaev’s doubling down on his eagerness to become a three-weight UFC champion comes just over a week MMA superstar Conor McGregor expressed the same desire.
The UFC’s first simultaneous two-weight champion told The MacLife: “The world will talk again (about) the triple crown.
“No one’s ever obtained three knockouts in three weight divisions moving up like I have already.
“But no one’s ever obtained three UFC world titles across three divisions like I will do also if we make this fight.

“It’ll never be done in my lifetime. No one will do this in my lifetime.
“When I knock Kamaru Usman out at 170, that’ll be three UFC world titles won moving upward with three knockouts.
“I knocked out [Jose] Aldo, I knocked out [Eddie] Alvarez, and I’ll knock out Kamaru Usman.
“Three knockouts, three world titles, three weights going up.”
