Elden Ring: How To Beat Dragonlord Placidusax | Screen Rant

0

Among Elden Ring's many hidden bosses, Dragonlord Placidusax is one of the harder ones to find and fight. Located in Crumbling Farum Azula, Dragonlord Placidusax is a tough boss to find, as it is very late in the area and located after a steep drop. However, from the grace right before Maliketh in Elden Ring going down the elevator, passing through the room with water around the ankles, and carefully falling off the cliff to the left will lead players to Placidusax.

There will likely be messages and bloodstains around the sight where players are to jump off. Then, after carefully navigating their way to a broken-looking arena floor, there is be a prompt to lie down. Oddly enough, after laying down, time in Crumbling Farum Azula will freeze and then begin to unwind, allowing the player to be engulfed by the surrounding tornado. Once pulled in, players will be greeted with none other than the two-headed Dragonlord Placidusax, and if defeated, he will grant access to two fantastic options as a remembrance in Elden Ring.

Before the fight truly begins, players will have all the time they want to buff their weapons or use consumables, as Placidusax will not become active until the player gets close enough. Once they do, however, prepare for three giant red lightning strikes. These strikes will follow the player, but with an adept dodge, players can create a massive opening for damage in Elden Ring. When the fight begins, running to Placidusax's hind legs on either side will keep the player safest as it aids in avoiding these lightning sweeps. Additionally, players should hang more to the back of the dragon, as it will eventually breathe fire to his side, which may hit two times. Placidusax may also do a tail sweep. However, it is much less threatening than his other attacks as it has a slow windup and deals less damage.

Around 50% health is where the real battle begins, as Placidusax begins teleporting in and out of the fight, typically reentering with long, extremely hard-hitting red lightning claw sweeps and slams. Dodging into these attacks is key since it will allow for openings before his next teleport, and his next attack will often go right over the player if they are close enough. None of his basic attacks change too much in his second phase, but the teleporting and flying into the sky can be hard to keep track of. So staying locked on is also essential, especially when Placidusax teleports.

Placidusax has a gargantuan health bar and is insanely resistant to bleed, so the fight will be a long one. He is weak to lightning and fire, so bolstering weapons with either one of those attributes will grant bonus damage. Placidusax does drop a remembrance and allows players to use one of the stronger dragon-based incantations in Elden Ring.

Finally, some spirit ashes may help here as Placidusax has massive hitboxes, so using a potent spirit ash is recommended during this boss battle. Something like Lhutel the Headless or the Mimic Tear to deal extra damage is always helpful; however, it may make Placidusax's attacks harder to predict. In this war of attrition, it is essential to have a careful mix of patience and aggression to come out on top.
