The Maharashtra government was under pressure from the BJP and several other quarters to remove the restrictions in the light of the Marathi New year and falling covid cases. Housing Minister Jitendra Awhad said that even wearing masks would not be compulsory but the cabinet has appealed to the people to wear them.
