Doctor Strange 2 Poster Reveals New Look At Multiverse of Madness Heroes
A new poster for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness reveals a fresh look at Benedict Cumberbatch’s Stephen Strange and the film’s other heroes. Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has gradually delved into its multiverse concept via WandaVision, Loki, What If…?, and, most recently, Spider-Man: No Way Home. That film saw Cumberbatch’s sorcerer accidentally bring well-known characters from alternate realities into the MCU. With a script written by Loki creator Michael Waldron, director Sam Raimi’s Multiverse of Madness will further explore the consequences of dangerous magic and is poised to feature more than a few familiar faces.
In addition to Cumberbatch, the sequel will see Rachel McAdams, Benedict Wong, and Chiwetel Ejiofor all reprise their roles from 2016’s Doctor Strange. The cast also includes Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch and Xochitl Gomez making her MCU debut as America Chavez. Trailer footage has revealed multiple variants, including an evil Strange/Strange Supreme, Defender Strange, multiple Wanda (s), and Patrick Stewart as a version of Professor Charles Xavier. Irrespective of alternate realities and variants, the film’s marketing campaign has featured Doctor Strange, Wanda, Wong, and America Chavez at its center. Now, a poster has unveiled a new look at these four heroes.

America Chavez's powers are noticeably absent from the above poster. In the comics, the character can open portals to other universes seemingly at will. She also originates from a pocket dimension known as the Utopian Parallel, which was created by an all-powerful version of Wanda’s son, Billy, called the Demiurge. While Multiverse of Madness’ promotional material has kept America Chavez’s powers and origins under wraps, her star portals can briefly be seen in the film’s official trailer. That said, it seems likely she will escape her reality, team up with Strange, and Wong to combat some sort of multiversal threat—which may or may not be tied to Wanda’s ongoing search for her children.
Following Disney/Marvel Studios’ acquisition of Fox in 2019, Multiverse of Madness is rumored to include mutants, a multiversal Illuminati, Superior Iron Man, and a villainous Scarlet Witch. Friend or foe, Wanda or a version of Wanda will certainly play a major role in the film. Regardless, Strange, Wong, Wanda, and America Chavez will be front and center when Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness premieres in theaters on May 6th.
