Everton must sell to balance the books with two star players on the radar of rivals

0

Everton boss Frank Lampard has been told he will need to cash in on a star player at the end of the season with either Dominic Calvert-Lewin or Richarlison set to move on.

According to reports Everton have been losing money hand over fist for the last three seasons and need to act. They are said to have lost £121million last season and £373million in three years. Something has to give and a star player is set to move on.

That could be best case scenario if Everton manage to stay in the Premier League. Relegation would of course call for more drastic measures with the club forced to cut their cloth accordingly.

Everton do have work to do as they sit just three points above the relegation zone. They do have games in hand on everyone around them apart from Burnley and need to start winning.

Everton to lose a star man

All focus is on the rest of the season and the battle to stay up. However it would appear Lampard has been told he will be losing a star man even if they beat the drop.

The Sun are claiming that either Calvert-Lewin or Richarlison will be the player to move. There is no shortage of interest in both players and offers are sure to come in if encouragement is given.

Indeed there is already talk of Arsenal offering £60million for Calvert-Lewin. The striker has had his issues on the injury front this season. But still he has matured into an England international and will attract big offers.

The 25-year-old is likely to be heading to the World Cup and that could push his price up. The Gunners are keeping tabs on him and a deal could be done this summer.

Richarlison is also in demand with Manchester United keen on the Brazilian. The former Watford star has proven his worth at Goodison Park. He has banged in 47 goals in 142 appearances since arriving for £50million in 2018. Still only 24, Everton could demand big bucks if they do cash in.

Bidding war for Richarlison

A bidding war could help push up the price and there is interest from elsewhere. Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona are both said to be weighing up moves.

It is fair to say Lampard would prefer to keep both players. But with a reported annual wage bill of £182million that is not possible.

He will also be well aware that selling either player will free up funds to make his own signings. But for now his main focus is keeping Everton in the Premier League.
