Report: Spurs or Arsenal could land highly-rated right-back for just £12m this summer
The Evening Standard have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur could snap up Middlesbrough right back Djed Spence for as little as £12m during the summer transfer window.
Spence’s impressive displays on loan at Nottingham Forest this campaign have caught the attention of several top-flight clubs.
Spurs reportedly saw an offer for the right-back knocked back by Middlesbrough at the end of the January transfer window (90min) while Liverpool and Arsenal have also been credited with an interest 21-year-old (Northern Echo).
The Evening Standard have now claimed that Boro are resigned to losing the right-back this summer as the player’s contract only runs until 2023.
It is explained that Tottenham’s main competition for Spence could come from North London rivals Arsenal and German giants Bayern Munich.
Due to the England Under-21 international’s contract situation, it is asserted that he could be available for a fee between £12m- £15m this summer.
However, the report adds that Boro hope to get a bidding war going for Spence and drive up his price.

£12m would be an absolute steal for a player of Spence’s talent but I suspect he would cost closer to £20m despite his contract situation, due to the sheer number of clubs who are after him. I would prefer Tariq Lamptey over Spence but the Brighton youngster is likely to cost more than double what the Boro starlet would.
