Ex-world darts champion Ted Hankey, 54, charged with sexually assaulting woman

FORMER world darts champion Ted Hankey has been charged with sexual assault.

The 54-year-old allegedly attacked the woman in September last year.

Cheshire Police confirmed he has been charged with one count of sexual assault.

He is due to appear at Warrington Magistrates’ Court on April 6.

Hankey is famous for using the nickname “The Count” and dressing up as a vampire for tournaments.

He is a two-time World Professional Darts Champion after winning in both 2000 and 2009.

Hankey, who lives in Telford, was also runner up in the BDO competition twice.

He withdrew from the 2022 World Seniors Darts Championship, which took place in February.

In 2012, Hankey suffered a mini-stroke and missed the 2013 PDC World Darts Championship.

Cheshire Police said: “The Crown Prosecution Service has authorised Cheshire Constabulary to charge Edward Hankey with the sexual assault of a woman.

​”The CPS made the decision to charge the 54-year-old after reviewing a file of evidence from Cheshire Constabulary.

“The charge relates to an incident that occurred in Cheshire in September 2021.”
