James Wan's Malignant Finally Getting 4K UHD Release
Director James Wan reveals his horror film Malignant is set for a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release. Wan is known for crafting uniquely terrifying horror films, having helmed Saw, Insidious, and The Conjuring. Malignant is his newest addition to the horror genre that sees protagonist Madison plagued by paralyzing visions of disturbing murders, only to find out that her dreams are happening for real. Wan also co-wrote Malignant's story with Ingrid Bisu and Akela Cooper, with Cooper penning the screenplay. Malignant stars Annabelle Wallis in the lead role alongside Maddie Hasson, George Young, Michole Briana White, and Jacqueline McKenzie.
Wan took to Facebook to share the news of Malignant's 4K UHD Blu-ray release. In his post, Wan stated that Gabriel, the film's antagonist, will be "slithering, slinking and slashing their way home in this beautiful 4K UHD, coming this May 24!!" Wan also expressed his love of physical media before thanking WB Home Entertainment and sharing photos of the Blu-ray cover, which features a poster image from Malignant's theatrical release. Aside from the new Blu-ray release being in 4K UHD, the latest release of Malignant doesn't offer up any new special features. The Blu-ray does offer a 14-minute behind-the-scenes featurette called Malignant: James Wan's Visions that delves into his inspirations while showing footage from the production. However, that same featurette was also available on the standard Malignant Blu-ray released last year. Still, for fans of the film, the new 4K UHD Blu-ray offers the best visual and audio presentation available to collectors. The Malignant 4K UHD Blu-ray is currently available for preorder on Amazon, selling for $27.99.
